With the kids and my desire to keep the junk to a minimum, we got a hotel with a kitchenette. I had a cooler full of fruit and milk and a box full of cereal, crackers, granola bars and other snackables. So we didn't do too badly at the beach. Went to a buffet but they had really good steamed vegetables so that was the only thing I went back for seconds on. Steamed seafood and a little bit of prime rib. I think the boardwalk walking helped.
The time in Fayetteville house-hunting wasn't as good, food-wise. There's a Cici's Pizza there. I'm glad they cut the pizza into small slices and I'm very glad they use thin crust. The thickness of the crust makes a big difference in calories. Eating three slices of white pizza probably wasn't so good. And the Sonic's down there all have playgrounds. They've got a new dollar menu which helps in ordering smaller portions.
We found a house to rent, which was good. Ate a lot of junk, which was bad. So I was sure I had gained a couple pounds. Imagine my surprise when I posted a loss! I lost the same amount I gained last week so I'm at 191 still. A couple theories on the loss. I worried about what I was eating but I'm well-trained by DTG in portion size so I didn't over-eat on junk. Or, I was PMS-ing the week before and that was why there was a gain. So the loss was actually a hormone adjustment result. Probably both. Regardless, I'm ecstatic that five days away from home didn't sink me!
Congrats on your vacation weight loss!! I'm very excited for you, you did great! There's nothing better than having a great time away from home and not gaining weight in the process!

ReplyDeleteIt's all perspective and as you say DTG has retrained you on proper portion size. What you now perceive as a feast may actually have been just a small taste in prior days. Great Job!
Don't leave us! Don't move! We'll miss you!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Cute photos of the kids.
